Kentucky City Commissioner Charged With Drunk Driving

A City Commissioner in Kentucky charged with Drunk Driving has pleaded guilty, after an incident where he ran through two stop lights.

As reported on Cincinnati.com, the man was willing to admit his mistakes, saying he deeply regretted the incident and wanted to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.

As part of his drunk driving plea, he will have to complete an alcohol abuse treatment program. He will avoid jail time and other penalties, other than fees and fines, if he stays out of trouble for 2 years. He will be eligible for a hardship license in Kentucky after a 30 day driver’s license suspension.

The defendant and his attorney were very concerned about the possible release of the video recorded on a cruiser-cam, but the judge indicated that such evidence is confidential, and would not be release to the public. Their was no indication of what may have been recorded during the incident that the Commissioner wished to keep private.

Critics have also noted that the man apparently listed on Facebook one of his favorite activities as “drinking”. Though it wasn’t a factor in this case, since he pleaded guilty, evidence from facebook can be used against a person in a criminal case.
